Waggin' Tails Is Born
The company was founded by Karen Cockrill in CO. It began as a dog walking business. And was originally named Waggin’ Tails. The first franchise was sold under this name in 2008.
Snaggle Foot Happens
Waggin’ Tails officially changed its name to Snaggle Foot in 2010. Based on the real-life Beagle, Dixie, the Snaggle Foot name came about because of an accident.
Dixie was a mischievous and ornery little Beagle–which meant she was true to her breed’s reputation!
Not content with following directions, Dixie took it upon herself to hop the garden fence. She then proceeded to dig her way into rebellious bliss. When she realized she had been caught, Dixie tried to inconspicuously hop out, but found herself with a paw snagged on the fence.
The limp and bandage she carried for the next few days earned her a new term of endearment, ‘Snaggle Foot’. And became the company name which we now proudly promote.
A New Owner
In 2014, the Snaggle Foot business was acquired by Mark Johnson.
Mark’s goal was to further develop the network into a thriving community serving all species of pets, and providing more than dog walking services.
A Friendly Change-Over
In 2016, Maike Liekweg Johnson took over the business from her husband, Mark. Maike’s experience in leading a diverse team of people, while navigating complex business environments provides a solid foundation for running a franchise business.
Since taking the reins of the business, she has invested heavily in key, strategic initiatives, all aimed at positioning the company for rapid expansion and growth.
Re-Branding
Near the end of 2019, it became clear that the vision for Snaggle Foot and its brand image needed realignment. We undertook an complete re-branding of the company, and in early 2020 rolled-out the new brand to the franchisees and consumers.
This investment in branding fundamentals makes Snaggle Foot current, and establishes a platform to carry the company into the upcoming decade with strength, character and clarity.
